Photite is a free gaming news site. We collect as little as we can. This page explains what we collect, why, where it's kept and how to have it removed.
Reading the site
You don't need an account to read Photite. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits. It doesn't use cookies, and we only see totals, such as page views and which pages are popular, not who you are. Cloudflare also hosts the site and, like any web host, handles technical details such as your IP address to deliver pages and keep the site secure.
If you switch to dark mode, that choice is saved in your own browser. It is never sent to us.
Tips
Tips are paid on Stripe's secure page. Stripe collects your name, email address and payment details to process the tip. Photite only sees what the Stripe dashboard shows us about a payment. We never see or keep your card details.
Founding Supporters
If you become a Founding Supporter, you can give us a handle to show on the Founders wall and tell us whether you want to be shown. Both are optional.
- We keep a numbered register of founders in a private, sign-in-only database on our Cloudflare account (it is not a spreadsheet). It holds only the handle you choose, your wall choice, the payment time, your number and a Stripe payment reference. It never holds real names or email addresses.
- Your email address is used only to send you your number. It is held by Stripe and processed by Stripe and Cloudflare on our behalf, and we never copy it into the register.
- We send your number by email from [email protected] within 48 hours of your payment. That email is sent through Proton Mail.
- On the wall we only publish your number and, if you chose to share one, your handle. Handles are checked before they appear.
- If you're refunded, your handle comes off the Founders wall.
Emails
If you email [email protected], we keep your message and email address so we can reply. We don't add you to any mailing list.
How long we keep it
We keep this information while Photite runs, or until you ask us to remove it. Payment records are kept by Stripe, and by us for tax, for as long as the law requires.
Where it's kept
Stripe, Cloudflare and Proton Mail may store data outside Australia. We never sell your information or share it, other than with the services that store or process it for us.
Changes and removal
To see, correct or remove anything we hold about you, except records we must keep by law, or to change or remove your handle, email [email protected]. We'll make the change within 7 days. Changing or removing your handle doesn't change your number.
If we change this policy, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
