THE FINALS Season 12 lets Scotty call your name

PRIME TIME's beta Dynamic Commentary puts players' names into live match commentary.

Embark Studios released THE FINALS Season 12, PRIME TIME, on Tuesday 20 October. Its headline feature is Dynamic Commentary, a beta that lets commentator Scotty call contestants out by name when they pull off something big, such as landing a Cashbox in a Cashout Station from across the map or going on a revive streak.

Embark says the lines are built from the match's context in real time and mixed in with the existing commentary. PCGamesN notes that the game's commentary already uses text-to-speech built from samples of paid actors.

There are privacy controls. With Anonymous Mode on, your name won't be called out to anyone on the server, and Streamer Mode stops lines that mention other players. Embark plans to ramp up the moments Scotty reacts to over the season, aiming for a handful per match.

The update also brings stronger moderation for names and chat, and a rebuilt HUD and menus.
