Activision says a future Call of Duty will start a new sub-series
Its marketing chief says the series won't go back to back with the same sub-series again.
Activision's chief marketing officer Tyler Bahl has said a future Call of Duty will be a new sub-franchise, outside Modern Warfare and Black Ops. In an interview with The Game Business, he said Activision had "already kind of stated" this and "laid the groundwork".
Bahl also said that releasing back-to-back games in the same sub-series, Modern Warfare 2 into Modern Warfare 3 and Black Ops 6 into Black Ops 7, wasn't something the community wanted.
This year's game, Modern Warfare 4, is out now. Activision hasn't named the next game, its studio or its setting.
