Most studios in a new study use AI, but 52% of leaders rate how deeply it's built in at 3/10 or lower
Adam Boyes' consultancy Vivrato interviewed 101 studio leaders. 97% had used AI in some form, and 94% use it in at least one of nine production stages.

Vivrato, the games consultancy run by former PlayStation executive Adam Boyes, has published its VAIA report on AI in game production. It's based on 101 confidential interviews with senior studio leaders, held from April to September 2026, mostly at PC and console studios in North America and Europe. Each interview followed the same 44 questions across nine production stages.
Vivrato says 97% of those leaders have used AI in some form and 94% use it in at least one of the nine stages. But 52% rated how deeply AI is built into their whole production pipeline at three out of ten or lower.
Boyes told GamesBeat that Europe is moving into AI faster than North America. He also said most leaders didn't want AI-made work in the final product, and that AI use in narrative and worldbuilding was very low.
A short snapshot of the findings is out now. GamesBeat reports that the full report comes in two editions: a Studio Report that compares a studio with others of its size, and an Enterprise Report with the full data.
