A Samurai Shodown movie is in the works from the creator of Altered Carbon
Laeta Kalogridis will write it for The Arena, the SNK-backed company that's also making Fatal Fury and Art of Fighting films.

A film based on SNK's Samurai Shodown, known as Samurai Spirits in Japan, is in development, The Hollywood Reporter reported on 22 October. Laeta Kalogridis, who created the Altered Carbon TV series and co-wrote Shutter Island and Alita: Battle Angel, will write it.
It's being made at The Arena, a production company started by producer Erik Feig and financially backed by SNK. The Arena's other projects include a Fatal Fury movie written by David S. Goyer, an Art of Fighting film and Fatal Fury: The Vow, an animated series with Skybound.
Samurai Shodown began in arcades in 1993 as a weapons-based fighting game. The most recent game in the series came out in 2019.
No director, cast or release date has been announced.
