Microsoft gives Arkane Lyon another month to find a partner
The studio making Marvel's Blade had been facing a 13 November deadline, Le Monde reported. Microsoft says closure isn't a final decision.
Microsoft has extended the consultation period at Arkane Lyon, the French studio making Marvel's Blade, by one month. "We have extended the consultation period by one additional month as we explore options, including finding a partner to support the studio through the development work still ahead," a spokesperson told PC Gamer.
Le Monde had reported that Arkane Lyon had until 13 November to find a buyer under France's Florange law, which requires companies to look for a buyer before closing a site. About 217 jobs are at stake, according to the reports.
Microsoft also said the closure documents shared with staff "are part of the required consultation process and do not represent a final decision." Xbox said in July that it plans to divest Arkane. Unions representing staff, including STJV, have been involved in the consultation.
Marvel's Blade was announced at The Game Awards in 2023. Microsoft hasn't given a release date or said who the partner could be.
