The Legend of California, the first-person Gold Rush survival game from Overwatch co-creator Jeff Kaplan's studio Kintsugiyama, will now enter early access on Steam and the Epic Games Store in 2027, not 2026. Polygon and Multiplayer.it reported the change after a Reddit AMA by Kaplan and Tim Ford on 24 Oct PT.

Kaplan said in the AMA that the game was meant to be in early access by now, but Alpha 3 "had performance issues and didn't feel up to our standards for release". He said the team has server performance targets to hit but feels "good on the feature/content side of things", Polygon reports.

No exact date has been given as of 26 Oct. Kintsugiyama's site lists Alpha 5 on Steam from 12 to 18 Nov, and says players from earlier alphas get in automatically.
