AMD says the Ryzen 7 5800X3D's return was Lisa Su's idea, a 'final gift' for AM4
AMD's Travis Kirsch says the 10th Anniversary Edition was planned before the DDR5 shortage, not as a response to it.

AMD's Travis Kirsch told Japanese outlet Tech+ that CEO Lisa Su was one of the people who suggested bringing back the Ryzen 7 5800X3D, PC Gamer and Tom's Hardware report. He called the re-release "like a final gift" for people who have used AM4 for almost 10 years.
Kirsch says restarting production took time, and that the plan came "before the changes in the memory market" and was not meant as an answer to the DDR5 shortage. He said AM4 "remains very strong" but gave no shipment figures, and would not say when AM6 might arrive.
AMD's product page says every 10th Anniversary Edition 5800X3D comes with a Carbice Ice Pad. The chip still uses AM4 and DDR4. PC Gamer says it went on sale on 25 June 2026.
