AMD brings FSR 4.1 to Radeon RX 6000 cards, with Xbox next
The machine-learning upscaler now runs on 2020's Radeon cards, Ryzen AI laptops and Z2 handhelds. Xbox Series X|S is coming soon.
AMD released FSR Upscaling 4.1 for a much wider range of hardware on 20 October, in its Adrenalin Edition 26.10.1 driver. FSR 4 launched only on Radeon RX 9000 cards in 2025, and reached RX 7000 cards in July.
It now supports Radeon RX 6000 series cards, first released in 2020, through an optimised version of the INT8 model AMD built for the RX 7000 series. It also runs on Ryzen AI Max processors, laptops with Ryzen AI 9 chips, and handhelds using Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme, Ryzen Z2 Extreme and Ryzen Z2 A, including the ROG Xbox Ally X.
For consoles, Xbox CTO Scott Van Vliet confirms in AMD's announcement video that FSR 4.1 is coming soon to Xbox Series X|S. Neither company has given a date.
AMD also announced FSR 4 support for Vulkan and frame pacing improvements for FSR Frame Generation. It says timing on handhelds varies by device, so owners should check with the maker.
