Unreal Engine 6 will remove Blueprints from day one of early access, planned for late 2027, Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney said at Unreal Fest Tokyo on 3 Nov, 4Gamer and Inven Global report from the keynote. Gameplay moves to Epic's Verse language and Scene Graph, with AI-assisted migration tools for existing Blueprints and C++ gameplay code.

4Gamer says Sweeney apologised to Blueprint users and tied the reversal of Epic's June Chicago plan to AI productivity: Epic has seen about 1.5× to 4× gains internally and expects at least 4× by the end of 2026. Kotaku separately quoted his line that AI adoption is "unlikely to be reversed," then published his X clarification that a round-trip translation had added nuances and that Epic is "going all-in" on AI gains for developers.

Australian studios on UE5 can stay on that line for shipping titles. Epic Games Japan said Unreal Engine 5.9 Preview is due the week after the fest, with more AI workflow help. Trying Verse in UEFN is the on-ramp Sweeney and Epic Japan pointed to before UE6 early access.

Photite covered Epic's AI push when Sweeney called Steam AI disclosures a political act.
