John Romero says Romero Games has found a new publisher for its next shooter, after the Xbox-funded version of the project was cancelled. He told VGC at Gamescom Asia that he can't name the publisher yet.
The studio has rehired about 10 people, bringing the team to around 15 or 16. The cancelled project had a team of about 110 before cuts left five, so this is a complete redesign that reuses work from the old game.
Romero says the shooter is being built in Unreal Engine 5.8. There's no release date or platform yet.
