Funcom says Dune: Awakening's Blood and Ice expansion launches on 1 Dec, free for all players on PC, PS5 and Xbox. It adds a new map, the Polar Sink, in Arrakis' frozen north. Players start in the tundra, where water shipper families guard their strongholds, then push on to a heavily guarded ice cap.

Funcom says the map has around 35 hours of progression. Desert gear needs upgrading for the cold, and harvested ice can cool base equipment to speed up production. The expansion also adds vehicle modules, augments and specialisation traits. A Water Crisis event follows soon after, and a new Events tab tracks progress and rewards.

Funcom also confirmed three features players have asked for. Offline single-player arrives in November. In January 2027, you'll be able to copy characters from multiplayer servers to single-player and from single-player to some private servers, and full cross-play arrives the same month. A cosmetics store with outfits, vehicle variants and base items is also coming, which Funcom says will help pay for free updates.

"We're far from done," Funcom CEO Scott Junior says, promising several major free updates in 2027. Funcom also says more than a million new players have joined since the console launch, as of 29 Oct.
