Square Enix has set Final Fantasy XIV: Evercold for 23 Feb 2027, announcing the date at its Fan Festival 2026 keynote in Tokyo. Polygon reports the expansion had been planned for late January, and producer and director Naoki Yoshida chose to push it back by about three weeks. "We were on track to just barely get the game to you in the stated frame," Yoshida said. "This is being done to make sure we can deliver on the many promises we've made."

The second new job is zephyr, a physical ranged DPS that fights with crossbow shots and help from an avian familiar called Nephele. Square Enix released a zephyr trailer alongside the full Evercold trailer.

Pre-orders for Evercold and the Collector's Box open on 4 Nov PT (5 Nov AEST). Pre-ordering gives early access, which is tentatively set for 19 Feb 2027, plus Halone's Earring, which gives 30% more EXP from defeating enemies up to level 100, and a Wind-Up Köttr minion. Square Enix says those items are delivered as soon as you pre-order. The Digital Collector's Edition adds a Valhallar Odin mount, an emote and a weapon. Prices weren't in the announcement (AU price TBC).

The keynote also showed a new raid difficulty called Fierce, which sits between Normal and Savage, and new eight-player battles built from alliance raid bosses in the Evangelion: Ghosts of Desire crossover. There's also a Seasons reward system, Evolved Combat Mode and expanded character creation. Polygon reports Evercold makes main story questlines less linear and moves progression from daily to weekly. Square Enix also says the game has passed 35 million registered accounts.

Photite covered the Fan Festival 2026 schedule on 25 Oct.
