Digital Extremes will open Soulframe's alpha playtest to PC players everywhere on 6 Nov, the Warframe studio says. Soulframe Open Preludes is free, and no invite is needed. You make an account on the official Soulframe website and download the game from there. It isn't on Steam or consoles, Polygon notes.
Until now, Preludes has been invite-only, with big waves of new players usually let in around TennoCon each year. "It feels a little scary to finally open the gates like this," creative director Geoff Crookes says, adding that more players now means more feedback to shape the game.
Verse of the Veilands, the next update, arrives in November. It adds Veilands, a world progression system where you purify corrupted regions, and the first mount: after training a wolf pup and purifying two regions, you can feed it a Bairnday Biscuit to grow it into an Omen Wolf. A new Pact, Ode Shrike, brings spike traps, balloon darts and bola chains. The Bita's Eve event is also back, with a headless horse-riding mini-boss called Veltruska.
Digital Extremes hasn't announced a full launch date for Soulframe, as of 30 Oct.
